Here at the LEN blog we post updates, news, and tips from the Letterpress Studio at U.W.E (The University Of The West Of England). LEN sessions are held on Thursday evenings, for MA Multi-Disciplinary Printmaking Students and Staff: to to print together, show examples of work, swap tips, discuss our research, and support each other - developing practice both individually and collaboratively. LEN was founded by Angie Butler, PhD. student in Book Arts And Letterpress, at CFPR, UWE.

LEN on holiday
LEN hopes you are enjoying the glorious sunshine with appropriate refreshment!
Another commercial block from the archives of Large & Sons who were printers in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne. The block was very dusty and dirty but a damp cloth then dilute metal polish followed by white spirit got it back ready for action.

LEN + friends hit the road
Last weekend LEN + friends exhibited at The 16.th International Contemporary Arts Book Fair at The University of Leeds in Parkinson Court. We showed and sold works produced by LEN members and friends that we have worked with too. There was lots of interest in our letterpress wares, and particular enthusiasm from a Graphic Design student currently studying at Leeds Met. He was very into Letterpress and we were pleased to meet him and 'talk type.'
He came back a little while later on and gave us a bunch of cards that he had letterpress printed for Mother's Day. He had used some rather nice ornaments in the printing too! So we put them on our LEN stand as giveaways to students who were looking to send something special to their Mum. These three students were really pleased with their freebies. Thank you!
